Wisconsin Capitols

These teams are for players in our area who want to start to develop their overall hockey sense and understanding of the game. We feel this part of their development has been ignored in our younger players and as they get older they're trying to catchup to the level of understanding the game that players from other states have.

We offer a place where kids can have two full-ice practices, with only 1 team on the ice, every week. They’ll start to learn positioning, offensive responsibilities, defensive responsibilities, how to create space with the puck for themselves & their teammates, how to move without the puck to create space, and the level they need to compete at in order to have success.

They’ll continue to develop their skating & stick-handling skills through different drills and scenario’s they’ll be placed in with different drills and also skill based practices & power skating practices with Amy Claggett. But, we really want to have a focus on starting to develop their feel for the game/hockey sense, developing their all-around game.

With us, they’ll be able to do it in an environment with great coaching and an approach to it that will have a positive impact on your skaters game and improvement/development that you’ll be able to see by the end of our season. 

The last thing that you need to know is that our organization is an AAU AFFILIATE. Which means that any player who plays for our team is still eligible to play for their local association without needing to any additional paperwork or jump through any additional hoops to do so. As long as you're registered for USAH & AAU there are no restrictions on players competing in both.

PLAYER CHECK-IN

Check-in will take place in the main lobby of the arena. Each participant will receive a numbered jersey or jersey pinnie when they check-in. Check-in is required only on the first day of tryouts. Players should wear the same color jersey (and number) for both tryout sessions. At the end of their second tryout session, the coaches will collect their jerseys.

• Parents will not be allowed inside either rink during any on-ice tryout sessions. If your skater needs help with their gear, you can definitely assist them. We ask that as soon as you're finished you return to the lobby or exit the arena. THANK YOU for your cooperation!

• First practice will be on Monday, September 14, 2026.
• Last practice will be on Wednesday, February 24, 2027.
• Team will play 24 games Total; included as part of the 24 games will be 5 events (Tournaments or Showcases).
• Team will have at least of 52 hours of on-ice practice time.
• Team will have at least 2 power skating focused on-ice sessions with our club Power Skating Instructor.
• Team will have at least 2 on-ice skill sessions with our club skills coach & other coaches on staff. Apparel & equipment as listed on the right.
